Carlton Scroop had a session in the loose school in preparation for Leyton Aspell schooling him tomorrow. If all goes well then he will be racing at Stratford on Saturday. So Elegant runs tomorrow over 2 miles at Lingfield (3 of her wins have come on Polytrack) and if she stays the trip she should go close. Shardia has managed to get in at Beverley on Thursday, hopefully the ground will stay good to soft.

Ronannis raced at Yarmouth today and improved on the performance of his first run. He is a real character and is learning the game quite quickly. He was up against 2-y-o's costing $250,000 and $400,000 which made his performance even more pleasing. Once in his own grade he should have no problem finding the winner's enclosure.

Quite a busy day with owners enjoying the good weather to come and visit. Lady Jessop and daughter Medina came to visit Esthlos who should make his reappearance at Yarmouth on Tuesday 12th September. The 2-y-o's worked on the grass and are improving every week. Ronannis faces a stiff task tomorrow against some well bred opposition at Yarmouth but is very well in himself. The Bonus King has come out of Wednesday's race at Stratford very well.

Our farrier Gavin Moody is one of the unsung heros of the team at Exeter House. Every winner I have trained has been shod by Gavin and we share his expertise with trainer Clive Brittain. He is pictured schooling Ronnanis who thinks of farriers the same way dogs view postmen! All the yard cantered on Warren and Long Hills. Gaelic Roulette is feeling well and impressed.

Our equine dentist, Jean-Luc Chouvier, comes across from France 3 times a year an plays a vital roll in the preparation of our horses. Gone are the days of rasping horses teeth with tools that look like they should be in a carpenter's yard. Jean-Luc electric rasper does the job quickly and efficiently and reduces to a minimum the stress placed on the horses. Pictured below is Alhambra Banks having her treatment. Monday's work for the majority of the horses consist of a single easy canter on Warren Hill and therefore is the ideal day for the dentist to visit.

We don't act as a tipping service but I know a number of our regular readers took note of our mention on Tuesday of Lounaos who won easily by 3 lengths at Roscommon today. He shares his sire with our new yearling Kleos, both being by Limnos (pictured below).
Quite a busy day in the yard as all the 2-y-o's moved into their refurbished boxes at Exeter House. My bedroom window opens out onto the yard and I don't expect they will let me have too much sleep as they get used to their new home tonight. They will need to get a good rest as all are working fairly quickly in the morning. Derrick McGaffin will be dropping in to ride out first thing.
Catalogues are online for Parts 2 and 3 of the Tattersalls October yearling sale at www.tattersalls.com (its a buyers market so give me a call!).
