Wednesday 6th September 2006
First lot saw Henrietta Mews, Ronannis, Eastern Playboy and Ethlos work on the Limekilns grass gallops. I have changed Ethlos' planned first run to Nottingham on 15th September. Ronannis will run at the same meeting.Ring of Destiny returned last night and had a lead out. He looks fabulous and will start to be ridden in a couple of days once he has settled in.
Leighton Aspell schooled the fillies of our juvenille hurdle squadMeddle and Elli Lewtia (pictured below). Meddle will be declared to run on Friday at Bangor.
Tuesday 5th September 2006
Eastern Playboy, Henrietta Mews, Ronannis, Shardia and Esthlos all cantered up Long Hill. The remainder of the yard went up Warren Hill except Sunday's winner The Bonus King and Orchard House who had a lead out and a pick of grass. Not to miss out on a some grass third lot (pictured below) had a quick graze on the way home (from left to right, So Elegant, Elli Lewtia, Lady Nimue and Bill Bennett).
We are off to collect Ring of Destiny from the stud farm this afternoon and he starts back in training with 6 weeks of walking and trotting. Ann and Julian Wilson have done an excellent job with him and we look forward to having him home.
Sunday 3rd September 2006
The Bonus King enjoys a quick chew of grass before being loaded up to come home after winning in great style at Fontwell. He was up against 2 useful flat horses and was giving the field 7lb because of his Southwell win. Hurdling has rekindled his love of racing and we look forward to him winning again soon. Carlton Scroop has come out of yesterday's race at Stratford well but I will give Friday's entry at Bangor a miss. I have entered Meddle in the same race and if she schools well on Wednesday she may take up this engagement.
Saturday 2nd September
Carlton Scroop put his schooling sessions to good effect by finishing 4th on his first start of English hurdles at Stratford. At home all the yard cantered including 2005 French Jumps Horse of the Year Tidal Fury (pictured below). Orchard House seems to have improved for his run at Pontefract and is declared to run at Warwick on Monday. The Bonus King goes to Fontwell tomorrow in top form.
Regent Racing have confirmed they are sending me 2 horses to train for their racing club. More details will follow on the website in the coming weeks.
Wednesday 30th August 2006
Jump jockey Leighton Aspell comes in to school Carlton Scroop and Meddle (pictured below). Schooling went exceptionally well for both horses. Leighton gives confidence to the horses and enables them to show their true abilities. An awful run by So Elegant at Lingfield was made worse by 6 hour wait on the M11 after a fatal accident.
Tuesday 29th August 2006
Carlton Scroop had a session in the loose school in preparation for Leyton Aspell schooling him tomorrow. If all goes well then he will be racing at Stratford on Saturday. So Elegant runs tomorrow over 2 miles at Lingfield (3 of her wins have come on Polytrack) and if she stays the trip she should go close. Shardia has managed to get in at Beverley on Thursday, hopefully the ground will stay good to soft.
