Wednesday 22nd November

A busy morning on the heath and then onto Tattersalls for the foal sales (pictured below).

We acquired a Night Shift filly foal for 19,000 guineas that will be syndicated in quarter shares.  I trained the dam of the foal so know the family very well and our love affair with Night Shift as a stallion is as strong as ever (he is the sire of our own Tidal Fury and Maximus Aurelius and broodmare sire of So Elegant).

The filly foal has a lovely walk and her breeder has offered to keep a quarter share in her (always a good sign!).

Tuesday 21st November

Bill Bennett (pictured below being saddled) ran a decent race and finished 6th today at Southwell. The kickback was the worse I had seen there and he was not at all happy.  Bill was about last entering the home bend but accelerated once out of the kickback and looks to have a win in him soon.

I will declare Gaelic Roulette for Uttoxeter on Thursday and it looks increasingly likely that Esthlos will go to Kempton on Saturday.  Both horses are in very good form.

Monday 20th November

No stable is complete without a yard cat and we are no exception with our expert mouse-hunter  named Bobby (pictured below).

Lowestoft Playboy and Patitiri had their first canters on Warren Hill this morning and will be back on the racetrack soon.  Alhambra Banks is making good progress following a slight suspensory niggle and is cantering daily.  Featherlight was only beaten 2 lengths at Wolverhampton on Saturday and looks to have a win in her in the not to distant future.

I have declared Bill Bennett for Southwell tomorrow.  He is in good form at home but that means little as he has a mind of his own once the race starts - but with 2 wins from him so far this year he is forgiven his occasional "moments".

Saturday 18th November

Featherlight goes to Wolverhampton today and is in very good form.  Esthlos ran a very respectable 2nd at the same track yesterday.

A busy morning on the gallops saw most of the yard on Warren Hill with Bill Bennett, Tidal Fury, Ring of Destiny and Orchard House doing 2 canters.  Our second batch of yearlings that have been ridden away include Prince Joshua (pictured below).

Monday 13th November

New horses and owners to the yard seems to be the current theme as today we welcomed yet another new recruit.  Our latest horse is a 3-y-o bay Mark of Esteem filly called Prima Markova (pictured leading 4th lot).

Carlton Scroop heads to Fakenham tomorrow for a handicap hurdle (Tom Scudamore rides).  I have made entries for Featherlight and Elli Lewtia at Wolverhampton on Saturday.

Saturday 11th November

An exciting morning as we looked over a new horse to the yard, Featherlight, a 2 year old bay filly.  She has only been beaten by just over a length in her last two starts and we hope that we can break her maiden tag before long.  Interestingly she is the half-sister to our own Prince Joshua who is currently being broken-in.
