Monday 23rd October
Today's race for Henrietta Mews has been called off due to the ground being waterlogged at Leicester. Most of the yard had a single canter on Warren Hill.At Tattersalls Horses in Training sale So Elegant bought back to a group of her existing owners to become a broodmare and she will board at Grove Farm Stud. Ring of Destiny has started cantering and his tendons are holding up very well. Elli Lewtia (pictured below with Carlton Scroop) is nearly fully fit and we will be looking for races for her and Gaelic Roulette in the next week or so. 
Saturday 21st October
Bill Bennett (pictured below), Elli Lewtia and Carlton Scroop all worked on the Southfields Farm polytrack. Bill will be declared for Catterick on Tuesday and is in very good form. Henrietta Mews' run at Leicester rests on a Sunday afternoon track inspection.The Night Shift and Daylami colt yearlings were lunged in preparation for having saddles on for the first time on Monday. The Daylami filly and Nayef colt had rollers on overnight and will have saddles oon by the end of the week. 
Friday 20th October
Leighton Aspell came in for schooling (see photo). Carlton Scroop jumped very well and may go to Sedgefield next week. Meddle will be declared for Kempton on Monday as will Henrietta Mews for Leicester on the same day. Bill Bennett will go to Catterick on Tuesday with Robert Winston taking the ride. Shardia is working well and may have a trip to Ayr on 28th October.Bought nothing at the Doncaster yearling sale yesterday. Last weeks Tattersalls purchases have been started to be broken-in and look fabulous. 
Wednesday 18th October
Just back this evening from Deauville. No purchases at the sale itself but a couple of private deals done so well worth the trip. I have seen so many yearlings over the last few weeks that coming back to the yard all our horses look so big. Nigel and the lads have done a fabulous job while I have been away. Relaxed away from the sales by visiting the Haras de la Fontaine stud farm located about 50 miles south of Deauville. It is a superb facility and their foals looked fantastic (see below). Visiting Deauville allowed me to catch up with some old friends from my time as Assistant to Myriam Bollack-Badel. Her son Alxi is one of France's most promising apprentices with 20 wins so far. He is only 16 and is employed by the legendary Andre Fabre. His father, Alain, is a classic winning jockey so its perhaps no surprise that Alxi knows the ropes but to show such promise at such an early age is remarkable. Off to bed as I need to be in Doncaster first thing in the morning for more yearling sales. Normality returns on Friday with Leighton Aspel in for a schooling session for Carlton Scroop. 
Sunday 15th October
No rest for the wicked as I will be at the Deauville Sales early in the week and then Doncaster on Thursday. Visited Grove Farm Stud today to check up on our Josr Algarhoud yearling and check over Julian and Ann Wilson's yearlings that are going to be sold on Thursday. Pick of the bunch was a very strong Lujain filly (lot 761), the first foal out of 6 time winner Inchcoonan. Our grey Daylami yearling filly is beautiful and knows it! She has settled in very well and enjoys the routine of stable life. All the yearlings will be broken-in over the next few weeks - exciting times ahead. 
Saturday 14th October
The Playboy Racing Club have added another horse to their rosta with us in the shape of Patitiri, a very lightly raced 3 year old Rahy filly (pictured below). This addition to Lowestoft Playboy and Eastern Playboy will make for a busy all-weather season for the club's members.Bill Bennett showed that he is coming back to form with a staying-on 5th at Warwick yesterday. We are running out of turf races for him and he will have numerous entries over the next couple of weeks as we seek win number three for the year. He will not race over the winter as he has been earmarked as lead horse for our rapidly expanding yearling team.
