Saturday 16th December
Tidal Fury's win today at Haydock was his 6th over jumps from only 13 starts and have brought his earning up to £218,599. He is a dream to train and both myself and his owners the Twelfth Night syndicate would like to thank the lads at home for preparing him so well. Head Lad Nigel and his team at Exeter House have done a wonderful job and the horse looked superb as usual.
Thursday 7th December
A quiet morning on the heath as the lads (and trainer) paid the price for the excellent yard Christmas party which was held last night. A good time was had by all. Many thanks to the owners who chipped in for the lads throughout the year...your generosity was drunk wisely!
Monday 4th December
Part of the enjoyment of going racing with us is the opportunity to discuss tactics before the race with your jockey. We like our owners to feel they can make a contribution to the debate on how best to win with their particular horse.
Pictured is owner Ken Snell with young National Hunt jockey James Davies. We try to get Leighton Aspell to ride the majority of our jumps horses but James has ridden on occasions when Leighton has been unavailable.
Saturday 25th November
••• Congratulations to owner Medina Jessup for the win this afternoon of Esthlos in the 8f maiden at Kempton •••
Esthlos has been running consistantly well and is a credit to the lads in the yard and Pete our vet who have brought him back from a near fatal injury (fractured cannon bone) to the winners enclosure. He is one of the lads favourite horses and is another success for our homebreds.
Thats win number 11 for the year (6 flat & 5 jumps).
Friday 24th November
Leighton Aspell came in for a schooling session that included Orchard House (pictured below). He is entered for a flat race at Kempton on Monday but one more practise at home will see him out over hurdles. He jumps so well that his future will ultimately lie over fences.
Esthlos goes to Kempton tomorrow with a very good chance. Tidal Fury has an entry at Ayr on Wednesday. Gaelic Roulette came home from Uttoxeter OK but this morning is slightly lame on her near-hind. It is only a minor set-back for her and she will be out again soon.
Wednesday 22nd November
A busy morning on the heath and then onto Tattersalls for the foal sales (pictured below).
We acquired a Night Shift filly foal for 19,000 guineas that will be syndicated in quarter shares. I trained the dam of the foal so know the family very well and our love affair with Night Shift as a stallion is as strong as ever (he is the sire of our own Tidal Fury and Maximus Aurelius and broodmare sire of So Elegant).
The filly foal has a lovely walk and her breeder has offered to keep a quarter share in her (always a good sign!).
