Orchard House has come out of his race last week very well and should be out again soon. His win makes it 9 so far for 2007 for us and we have a strike rate of 29%. I did not run Gaelic Roulette yesterday at Bath due to the firm ground.

Orchard House's impressive win at Southwell yesterday led to some hung-over staff and owners this morning. Today's Racing Post sums up why it was such a big win for the yard:
Apprentice Gihan Arnolda rode his first winner for 1,891 days when partnering Orchard House from the Jonathan Jay yard to take the 1m6f handicap. "I became a bit disillusioned with sport, so I went out of racing for five years, but Jonathan asked me to come back and he's been brilliant," said the winning rider, after his mount had got off the mark by holding the late run of Silver Mont by a length.
Jay, whose former boss Dave Morris had taken the opener with Wodhil Schnaps, said: "The horses are running well at present, and it's a good team effort. Gihan works hard at home, and he deserves this success."
Star performance Gihan Arnolda who rode his first winner since returning to racing after a five-year break on Orchard House.
Back on Newmarket heath it was business as usual with most of the yard working. Pictured below are Pie-O-My and Crimson Mitre returning back to the yard after cantering on Warren Hill.
Tuesday 22nd May
Well done to Graham and Lynn Knight for their wonder mare Gaelic Roulette doing us all proud by winning at Lingfield today. As tough as ever, Gaelic is loving life at present and looks a picture.
We have had some new arrivals in the yard with most notably Yankeedoodledandy joing us. Already the winner of 3 novice hurdles and Grade 2 placed, Yankee will be prepared for a UK Chasing and French hurdling campaign similar to that undertaken by Tidal Fury. He has already been 2nd in a Listed race at Auteuil and is a welcome addition to the team.
We have retired Bill Bennett after 6 wins but have his 1/2 sister Lady Nimue in the yard (pictured below). She seems to have as much ability as Bill and is one to follow in the coming months.

Our flying mare Gaelic Roulette has recovered very well from her winning run at Kempton last week. She is now heading for Lingfield Park for a race over 2 miles on the turf course on Tuesday 22nd May. She is in foal to stallion of the moment Val Royal (pictured below), sire of this year's 2000 Guineas winner Cockney Rebel.
Tuesday 1st May
Well done to our 7lb claimer Gihan Arnolda for his "never say die" attitude on Orchard House at Southwell today. Although the horse is only rated 39 Gihan gave everything to snatch third from a horse rate 23lbs higher before the finish. A racegoer can up to us as we left the course to thank him for his efforts as he had backed him each-way at 25/1.
Sunday 29th April
Orchard House, Carlton Scroop and Scott all went out today for a single canter on Warren Hill. Liam Jones came in to sit on Scott (both pictured below) as he is riding him at Southwell on Tuesday.
