Lady Asheena wins at Kempton

Congratulations to all the team at Exeter House as Lady Asheena (pictured below) won last night at Kempton.  She was ridden by Debbie England who gave her a very professional ride.

Our stable jockey, Luke Morris, is now lying 3rd in the all-weather championship and has done very well since losing his claim. We now have a very healthy strike rate of 22% (2 wins from 9 runs). All eyes now on tonights run at Wolverhampton from Carlton Scroop to see if he can keep his good run going (3 runs this year netting a 1st, 2nd and 3rd).

Still snowing in Newmarket

We are now officially fed up with the snow.  All the horses are managing to get out safely but it is no fun for them or the lads.  Maximus Aurelius and Graylyn Ruby have been gelded so the bad weather is the least of their problems!

Newmarket in the snow

It has been quite a disrupted week here with snow and ice to content with most days.  Pictured below are Tom O Tara, Mekong Miss and The Bully Wee coming back from Warren Hill - the lads have done a great job getting all the horses out and we have yet to miss a lot.

The highlight of the week so far has been If Only's debut performance only beaten 3/4 length at Lingfield on Wednesday.

Join the Regent Racing Club for only £20 per month

I often get asked about the costs of racehorse ownership and how the average person can get involved in the sport of kings without having to pay a king's ransom.  For these people and anyone interested in racing but without the funds to go into conventional ownership we have started our own racing club.

Pricing is set very low at £20pcm paid by DD or credit card. There will be twice weekly email updates with photos etc., to keep everyone informed and a special section on our website. The horses will run in club colours (see below) and depending on numbers free tickets (or discounted tickets) will be available to watch him race. Free visits to yard and Newmarket gallops will be part of the experience.

The club's first horse Carlton Scroop has already won this year and will keep going at his level all year so I think anyone getting involved will have a lot of fun.  He will probably go hurdling during the summer.

FIRST RUNNER = FIRST WINNER

Well done Carlton Scroop!!! At least I said yesterday that we did love him or I would be feeling bad now.  He did half think about being a pain going in the stalls but once he was travelling the race looked his to be won.  I didn't have the camera with me so I've had to hunt out an old photo of him, found one of him at his happiest - stuffing his face in the sun!!!

9th January 2009

I have declared Carlton Scroop (pictured below), for Kempton Park tomorrow afternoon (5.15pm).  Don't let his angelic face fool you as Charlie, as we know him in the yard, can be a little terror on racedays.  His "rap sheet" is as long as Al Capone's and his reputation proceeds him once we get to the racecourse.  At times he has taken over an hour to load up into the horsebox, refused to enter the stalls and even refused to go back to his stall after the race had been run.  Charlie always gets forgiven and on occasion shows us why we love him - winning at Kempton at 20/1 and being part of our first double at Wolverhampton when looking beaten 4f out after being hampered.  It will be Luke's first ride on the horse and his instruction will be simple - "look for trouble".
